District COVID Update 12/4/20

December 4, 2020

Concordia R-II Community:

At this time, the Concordia R-II School District will be returning to the normal 5-day in school learning model next week.  Classes are scheduled to take place on campus all 5 days next week including Monday.  We will continue to reevaluate the most appropriate method on a weekly basis.  Currently our quarantined staff and student numbers are very manageable.  At CES we have 2 staff (0 positive) and 12 students (1 positive) that are quarantined.  At CHS, we have 3 staff and 4 students quarantined.  Two of high school staff will come off of quarantine this weekend.  All activities are planned as scheduled, please check the website for schedule changes as there have been several including make-up games.  Grab and Go Meals are available for pick-up on Monday 12/7 for children ages 1-18 that are not attending school in person.  Please complete the survey on-line by 5:00pm today in order to receive those meals.  Have a great weekend.

November 24, 2020

Concordia R-II Community:

At this time, the Concordia R-II school district will be implementing the 4/1 learning plan for the week of November 30th.  Therefore, Monday November 30th will be a distance learning day and Tuesday Dec. 1st through Friday Dec. 4th will be on campus with normal instruction.  We still have a few staff that are quarantined through Monday and a couple still waiting for test results.  Monday is our most difficult day to find substitute teachers, so implementing this plan next week should help us return to normal on Tuesday if we don’t have any other setbacks.  Again, we will reevaluate this on a weekly basis.  We hope to return to 5-day normal instruction on December 6th.

All practices starting this Saturday, November 28th can be in person and onsite, and all scheduled activities/contests for next week and beyond will be played unless you are notified otherwise.  Grab and go and delivered lunches will be available on Monday November 30th as well.  A survey is available on the website to request lunches on Monday, the deadline is 5pm on Friday, November 27th.

The Concordia R-II school board approved a resolution on 11/20/20 that incorporated the Lafayette County Health Department mask mandate and Governor Parson’s quarantine protocol guidelines.  This resolution is available on our website and is currently in effect for our staff, and will go into effect for  our students when they return to campus.  Any student or staff member that cannot wear a mask due to a medical reason will need to contact the district or building office to learn the medical waiver process.  Documentation of the medical diagnosis or medical explanation of the necessary exemption will be needed unless already on file with the district.  A school health committee including the nurse, school based therapist, and administration team will consider those exemptions.  Any student that is granted exemption will be required to wear a face shield and social distance when possible.  All other students and staff will be required to properly wear a mask while on campus and during travel on school buses and other district vehicles.  The district will provide masks for anyone that does not have their own, and all masks must be school appropriate and meet dress code.

Again, thanks for your patience and understanding as we continue to provide the best education possible for our students while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.  Please check our website and social media frequently for updates and schedule changes.  Happy Thanksgiving!
