DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION and HOMELESS LIAISON
The Director of Special Services is Mrs. Kasha Oetinger. Mrs. Oetinger is responsible for overseeing the implementation of Special Services in the Concordia R-2 School District. Special Education is offered both at Concordia Elementary and Concordia High School
Mrs. Cindy Gieselman is a Special Education paraprofessional at Concordia Elementary School. She provides support to elementary students and assists the classroom teachers. She has been working at Concordia R2 for over 20 years and has experience working with a variety of diverse students and with different grades. In addition to her school day obligations, she has helped with Science Olympiad, the Trauma Informed School Initiative, and Positive Behavior Supports. For more information, see her staff page here. Mr. Omar Lovercamp is a Special Education teacher at Concordia High School for grades 7-12l. He graduated from Missouri Valley College with a degree in Physical Education in 2008. He has taught since 2008 and has experience as both a Special Education teacher and director. For more information, see his staff page here. Miss Katie Travis is the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher at Concordia Elementary School. Miss Katie was in Future Teachers of America and attended the Early Childhood Lex La Ray program while in high school. She graduated in May 2019 with her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and started at CES as a Kindergarten teacher in 2019 before moving into the lead teacher of the ECSE program in 2020. Mrs. Ariel Thomas is a paraprofessional in the Early Childhood Special Education program at Concordia Elementary School. She graduated from State Fair Community College in 2016 with an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development and music. She has been a piano and vocal teacher of all ages since 2013 and worked as a paraprofessional at Pettis County R5 school district during the 2019-2020 school year. The Concordia R-2 Districts contracts with two local agencies to provide related services to students. These agencies are Physical Therapy of Concordia and Kidz First Therapy.
